Con su carrera meteórica de éxitos de principios de 1955 hasta finales de 1961, Jimmy Reed reinó como el músico de blues más populares de su época, solo comparable por sus compañeros del Mississippi, BB King.
Se incluyen aquí los primeros de tabla como "You Don't Have to Go", "Ain't That Lovin 'You, Baby", "Baby, What You Want Me a hacer", "Big Boss Man" y "Bright Lights, Big City", con todas las normas duraderas que influyeron en una generación de rockeros, como Bob Dylan, a los Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix.
